We are very excited about having the National Doctors Tea Party (NDTP) on Saturday August 7th. The Indiana venue is another vital link in a movement to oppose ObamaCare that will continue until that legislation is repealed. Rep. Steve King has put forth HR 4972 a bill that repeals PPACA. Rep. Michele Bachmann has started up the Tea Party Caucus that will continue to drive the movement in opposition to ObamaCare.

On Saturday our thoughts and our prayers are with all of you in Valparaiso, Indiana at the Court House. Remember together, we have things covered from coast to coast in an effort to help get the country back on a healthy course.

Probably can't make it (the short notice factor, plus four kids, livestock, CME, house repairs, and rotting peaches and tomatoes (last years) to process.

BUT - after just viewing the DISGUSTING and simpering "we want more government, as long as we get a 'program' or a 'grant' for our practice" website of the AAFP, it makes me YEARN for a network or forum where we can get together and help each other find ways do DEAL with these idiots running medicine these days.

I asked our 'practice management consultants' about the pros and cons of stopping participation in Medicare, and about going to 'direct pay' practice, and they looked like I'd just asked them the best way to fly to Mars. They couldn't even give me concrete advice on how to pick my worst insurance company and dump them, and repeat that process yearly.

I even asked about how to push-back on mandated EMR's, pointing out some of the more glaring issues with them, but was told that they are 'inevitable' and not to resist.

Seems like about 25 years ago, I remember taking some sort of 'oath' involving doing what is best for the patient, fiercely defending them against "all enemies, both foreign and domestic" (ok, I kind of hybridized that with the military oath) - but seriously - it was NOT the "hypocritic" oath most seem to now be swearing to.

Anyway, aside from aapsonline.org, which is fairly sparsely populated (on-line, at least), and not 'local', I would like to find a place we can network (hate that word).

It is shocking to me that so many now graduate medical school (they must therefore be at least reasonably intelligent), yet totally fail to understand free-market economics, or what our Constitution means, or even why a stable and predictable legal framework is required for anything to work. They're all full of idealism and 'compassion' - as long as it is with other people's money.

You can't even find any in the residencies who seem to want to get out and actually work for patients, instead of 'signing on' to the nearest hospital or HMO, and practicing 'protocol for a cut of the profits'.
